A note from John Jenkins MD, Chair of the Collaborative

As a former schoolteacher who became a primary care provider, I fully recognize that healthy students are better learners. That is why telehealth leaders across NC and SC formed the Collaborative for the Advancement of School Telehealth.

Telehealth is an ideal medium to scale physical and mental health services to school age populations. These services not only promote health and wellness but deliver care in a way that keeps the majority of students in the learning environment by reducing chronic absenteeism and increasing instructional time. This work also impacts families who no longer need to interrupt work or family duties to travel to school for an early dismissal for needed therapy or simple health related concerns.

CAST gathers thought leaders to advance school telehealth services with regional events and a yearly conference. CAST members are health systems and nonprofits providing care and include aligned foundations and child advocacy groups. Your sponsorship will help us deliver valuable meetings that will promote the development of comprehensive care. Our next meeting will be in Charlotte, NC in October with over one hundred attendees.
